Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Although we have guidelines that we follow for this meeting there are some questions that are not necessarily a part of our guidelines. This document is here to answer the questions that seem to be frequently asked about this meeting.
Can I make this my homegroup and/or attend the business meeting?
Many members have expressed that they want to make the IOMMNA meeting their homegroup, and that is totally fine. The business meeting for this group is attended by the hosts and co-hosts of this meeting only. This meeting is not a traditional meeting inasmuch, as we don’t belong to an area, as we are a 24/7 marathon meeting.
How do I get my court slip/meeting verification from this meeting?
This group does not send meeting verifications of any kind.
What do you do about members that have offensive profile pics/backgrounds?
This group doesn’t police background and/or profile pictures unless they include hate speech, bullying, promotions, degrading comments about race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity and will not be tolerated. Please be courteous to your fellow members.
Why isn’t there a smoking/vaping or eating on camera rule?
Smoking and vaping can be triggering to some, and we ask that you be mindful and not blow smoke directly into the screen and if you must, please turn off your video. If you are offended by smoking, vaping or eating on camera, please consider changing your view to “speaker view” or listening only. Also, be mindful that if you roll your own cigarettes that it could appear that you may be using paraphernalia so please turn off your camera or do it another time.
Why are some members playing music or singing (as a share)?
In order to keep the atmosphere of recovery, we ask that you share your experience, strength and hope. By playing music or singing, it can deter the meeting from our primary purpose.
Why can’t I sleep on the meeting?
We will not remove people from the meeting for sleeping on camera, however, it is at the host’s discretion of whether or not they mute cameras. Listening only is also an option. Sometimes we see things we don’t want to see because you forgot you were naked when you went to bed! 😊
Can I have my camera on during the meeting in public places?
We don’t control where members go with the meeting on their phones/tablets/laptops, but ask that you please be mindful that our meetings are anonymous.
Is there a "burning desire" for the IOMMNA group?
The "burning desire" that is sometimes offered in some meeting formats is not applicable here due to the fact that we are a marathon meeting, and there is no end.
